Speakers are selected on a competitive basis with reference to the following criteria.
All abstracts for case studies, panels, and workshops submitted by the deadline will be considered. Those received after the deadline may be considered but will be placed on a waiting list.
Applicants will be notified from December 2023 if their submission has been selected.
All those offered a speaking slot must confirm acceptance by registering to the Conference. A speaker discount of 20% will be shared with your acceptance notification.
Speakers are responsible for their travel, accommodation, and their conference registration fees. Please also ensure you obtain a Ghanaian entry visa, if applicable.
The Conference agenda is structured in mostly 90-minute session blocks. This is only to allow for a better flow of the agenda and minimize time spent moving between meeting rooms.
The 90-minute breakout sessions usually include 2-4 case studies on a similar theme or ICT4D tool from different speakers or organizations, with time for questions and discussion. Most case studies are scheduled consecutively, so need to coordinate with the speakers of the other case studies.
Yes. All presentations and panels must be presented in person.
The ICT4D Conference agenda team accepts the highest scoring submissions with reference to criteria, including the credibility of the speaker and overall diversity of the speaker panel.
In the interests of transparency and fairness to those accepted through the selection process we are not permitting speaker substitutions except in limited circumstances. Please contact us first to check.
If you find you are no longer able to speak after you have paid the registration fee, we will offer a refund until December 19, 2023.
All participants, including speakers, are responsible for covering their own costs and fees associated with their Conference attendance. In previous Conferences, we have accepted 250-300 speakers from the application process. Given the interactive nature of the event, speakers make up 25-30% of all participants. In the interests of fairness and transparency to other speakers and participants we are not able to make exceptions.
We have a limited scholarship program for selected and eligible speakers from local NGOs/CSOs or government agencies from low- or middle-income countries. You may apply for this in your speaker application.
Please also refer to our Justify your Attendance with easily customizable letters and worksheets to help your manager/employer/donor understand the benefits of your participant.
If you are accepted to speak you will need to confirm your spot by registering at the applicable rate by the published deadline, January 30, 2024.
All conference rooms will be equipped with display screen, laptop, and internet connection. PA equipment will be available in larger rooms.
If the speaker wishes to use their own laptop, they are responsible for provision of all peripheral equipment including adaptors, convertors, and cable connectors for use with any additional equipment in Ghana.
